I'm finally back home to the wonderful snowy woods, but here are some of the pictures from NYC...
BadAss Rock Doves on 64th & 3rd...
Red Tailed Hawk sitting peacefully & American Crows very upset about it in Central Park, 60th & 5th. On the left the hawk is the big bird silhouette, on the right you can see it towards the bottom of the picture. I don't think that it was Pale Male, it looks more like a juvenile.
A pair of House Sparrows. This species, which we see almost everywhere in N. America is actually originally from the Old World.
Can you find the little White Throated Sparrow? This little one is a New World sparrow, which is not directly related to the Old World sparrows, though they look damned similar! They are actually more closely related to the Old World buntings, and also resemble finches.
A Northern Mockingbird enjoying some berries. I didn't recognize this fellow at first as he is a bit chubbier than mockingbirds usually appear!
